Forbes recently released its list of the world’s top Billionaires and it is interesting to see 2 Indians in the top 5 (and 3 in the top 6).

An interesting article from the NY Times, titled “A Chevy With an Engine From China“:

Last year, China exported more than $12 billion in auto parts, up from less than $2 billion in 2002 — the majority to North America. The increase in exports has added to the problems plaguing North American suppliers. Most famously, Delphi, which is seeking to emerge from bankruptcy, has closed dozens of plants and moved some production overseas to become more competitive, including to China.

Soon China will be exporting whole vehicles to North America. Last year, Chrysler signed a deal with China’s largest car company, Chery Automobile, to supply a Dodge subcompact.

In a $2.3 billion dollar move, Tata completed a deal with Ford to acquire two of its most prestigious and recognized brands, Jaguar and Land Rover. Along with its newly released Nano brand, promised to be the world’s cheapest car, Tata has placed itself in a position to be a major player in the worldwide auto market.

I can only hope to one day drive a Tata Jaguar XF or Tata Range Rover!
